Learning from Peter Zumthor

2010 Jon A. Jerde Traveling Fellowship

This research grant is given to a fourth- or fifth-year student at the USC School of Architecture for independent travel and study outside of the United States, requiring a research proposal, budget, and presentation. Learning from Peter Zumthor focuses on the work of Peter Zumthor and the role of visceral expression in architecture. The project includes a collection of photographs and writings from six of Zumthor’s projects throughout Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, and a musical score reflecting the experience.
