About

Hi, my name is Shawn Swisher and I am an architect and designer based in Phoenix, Arizona. I work as a project architect and designer at Jones Studio in Tempe, and previously worked as an architect and designer at Richärd Kennedy Architects in Phoenix. I’m also one of the hosts and producers of the podcast Tracing Architecture, which explores the layers of the architecture profession.

I received a B.Arch cum laude from the USC School of Architecture and an M.Arch from the UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design under Professor Ron Rael in the Studio One program.

At USC, I was awarded as a Global Scholar Prize recipient, as a Discovery Scholar, and as the 2010 A. Quincy Jones Memorial Scholar from the School of Architecture. In April of 2010, I received the 2010 Jon A. Jerde Traveling Fellowship to research the work of Peter Zumthor and the role of visceral expression in architecture.

My architectural design work has been exhibited in the United States and France, and I have worked as an architectural designer and graphic designer in Los Angeles and Phoenix.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my wife, Kimberlee, my son and daughter, Eero and Audree, and my dog, Daisy. If I’m not with them, I can be found drinking coffee at Cartel or sipping a beer while watching the Phoenix Suns. I am also an active member in the local chapter of AIA and co-chair for AIA10 Phoenix Metro, and was recently named an Emerging Sustainability Leader by Arizona Forward.
